Therapeutic Bodywork

While working with my clients, I have realized that many of them could improve by receiving professional massage. Touch is important for us at many levels. Babies who are deprived of touch are not able to thrive as well as babies who grow up in loving homes. Receiving bodywork by caring professionals has helped many individuals with issues such as anxiety, depression, physical discomfort, Cancer, and sexual issues. This kind of work helps decrease sexual aversion in people who were sexually abused as children. The importance of appropriate, safe, and caring touch cannot be emphasized enough in this work.

I learned Holistic Massage Therapy at the World School of Massage and Healing Arts in San Francisco. My specialty is in Swedish massage, Vibrational Bodywork, and Reflexology. I have studied Cranio-Sacral and Lymphatic massage. Depending on the client's needs and wants I may incorporate two or more techniques during the session. I have taken Reiki from different masters to deepen the work and help move stagnant energy.

What is a Swedish Massage? The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. It feels good; it is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well being.

What is Reflexology? It is a gentle form of therapeutic treatment applied to the feet and sometimes to the hands. Reflexology is considered to be a holistic healing technique that aims to treat the individual as a whole, in order to induce a state of balance and harmony in the body, mind, and spirit.

Reflexology is based on the belief that there are reflex areas on the feet (and hands) corresponding to all the parts of the body including major organs. Applying pressure to specific areas of the feet can affect internal organs and body systems. Reflexology has many benefits including relaxation, relieves pain associated with migraine, sinus problems, breathing disorders, tension and stress.

What is Vibrational Healing Massage? It is a form of bodywork that works with joints, structure and emotional release of pent-up emotions and stresses. The session can be clothes on and there is no oil involved unless it is combined with Swedish or Reflexology. There is a spiritual element to Vibrational Healing Massage that is soothing to the spirit and body. It involves the movement of energy as the body is helped to release blockages.
The client is coached in the Fluid Body Model which teaches awareness in new ways of living, standing, walking and moving the body. The concept is that humans are fluid beings rather than solid beings. Vibrational Healing Massage offers restoration to the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous system.

I use organic essential oils and flower essences in the treatments. Bodywork and Reiki produce a true metamorphosis in the client. These treatments usually last about two and a half hours. I start by soaking your feet in warm water with essential oils as I listen to your needs for about 30 minutes. Then, I give you one hour of bodywork, and then, one hour of Reiki. If you wish, you can have either bodywork or Reiki alone.
